Down-to-earth, perfectionist and thoughtful, Gabrielle Rose is a self-taught artist working and living in California. Fantastical, organic and mysterious, Gabby’s work stirs up those in-between emotions that are difficult to articulate with words. “I’ve always tried honing in on those feelings when they pop up in myself, ever since I was quite young, and the more I draw and paint the more I attempt to transfer them to the page. There’s also a connection to the (moral, emotional) ambiguity found in the best fairy tales and children’s stories. I draw upon that as well. I don’t know if I’m ultimately successful at conveying this in my work, so at the very least I want my art to be beautiful, and I want viewers to make their own inferences and connections about each piece.” Stories, fairy tales and whimsical animations are her inspirations, as is music and nature. “I also like to spend time with other artistic, creative minds.” Please visit her Tumblr for more works.
